I've got a new CD out called "Hyper Midi Guitar"
It features classic rock and progressive rock cover tunes, 
and all parts are played from my Starr Labs Ztar.

The Ztar is an electronic MIDI Guitar controller which is capable of some pretty amazing things which can't be played on a conventional electric guitar. But the sound, as heard on "Hyper Midi Guitar" is pure classic rock guitar that you all know and love.

I've invented a new set of playing techniques and a new custom classic rock sample guitar library to achieve what you hear on this new release. Although I'm a veteran rock guitarist, this new technology affords me the opportunity to innovate in ways that conventional electric guitar can't offer. I can do alternate tunings, splits and layers, clip triggering and two handed tapping at very fast speeds.

Songs on "Hyper Midi Guitar" include things from Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Yes, King Crimson, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Dave Edmunds & Love Sculpture, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Boston. You'll hear pretty slick tone, amps and the kinds of sonic things you'd expect from classic rock guitar. But.... with a new twist.

Les Fradkin, from the Original Cast of Beatlemania, presents "Liberty" from his "One Link Between Them" CD. 

This is a cover of the Steve Vai classic guitar instrumental "Liberty" which was originally recorded by Steve Vai on his "Passion & Warfare" album. In this video, Les Fradkin is playing the Starr Labs Ztar MIDI Guitar in his Neo Classical Bach influenced style - two handed tapping of the famous Steve Vai composition with a shred guitar sample with feedback that has to be heard and seen to be believed! Perfectly in sync with 4th of July fireworks.

This video clip was recorded LIVE on July 4, 2008 at Rhyolite National Park in Castle Rock, Colorado at 
Les' July 4th live concert.

This album has received wide acclaim in publications such as Keyboard Magazine and across the Internet.

Les, who is classically trained, is moving at Hyper speed. In this video, he's playing the Starr Labs Ztar MIDI Guitar in a Neo Classical meets Bach influenced style on his own composition.

The Ztar can be strummed with string triggers or tapped with one or both hands as seen in this video.

The main lead sound is the Arturia Moog Modular V and the Logic ES2. Background sounds are from an M-Tron, Roland XV-5080 and Arturia Soft Synths. The sounds at the intro are made with Propellerhead Reason.
